Mark Gonzalez is a renter, an organizer, a caregiver, a renter, and an activist who knows that the system isn’t working for ordinary people in our community. The son of a single mother who grew up in Section 8 housing, Mark became Chair of the LA County Democratic Party, where he organized support for laws to make community college free, protect our air and water, make housing more affordable, and safeguard abortion rights:

  • Helped to pass a state constitutional amendment protecting a woman’s right to an abortion in California.

  • Helped pass laws to allow full-time students to attend community college for free, opening the doors to college for millions of young Californians.

  • Worked to increase the Homeless Assistance Program to help families at risk of becoming homeless pay their rent and stay off our streets.

After his mother suffered a stroke two years ago, Mark Gonzalez has become her sole caregiver. In this role, he's witnessed the failures of government, social programs, and the healthcare system in adequately supporting vulnerable seniors.

Now Mark is running for Assembly to raise wages for working families, tackle LA’s homelessness and housing affordability crises, and guarantee healthcare as a right for all.
